Rural property will be classified as such on the city plan. In some countries it is referred to as a ranch or a farm. Usually people live on the farms and make a living from it.
Farm
I’m the ultimate personal shopper if you’re interested in rural land in New Zealand. There are plenty of options available, and I will find you land specific to your needs.
Everything you need to know in the interim is listed on the Pipers website and these are links to the various disciplines:
Ranch
Ranches in New Zealand are called farms and come in all sizes but they are larger than lifestyle blocks. The size of a farm is expressed in hectares (rougly 2.5 acres is one acre). Some farms are leasehold land of the Crown and some are leasehold land belonging to other entities and organisations, for example, the Canterbury University. Most, however, are in private ownership and have a free hold title and these are easier to purchase, if you’re an overseas investor. With Crown land, various state departments must be approached for consent. This could cause long time delays and it is an expensive process. Contact us if you’d like to know more about this option, and how we can help you find the right property.
