A larger block of land (for example 10 acres outside the city) is called a lifestyle block. 5 acres are 2.023 hectares; 10 acres are 4.046 hectares. Their use is governed by local by-laws and zoning regulations.
The Overseas Investment Office will not give consent for foreigners to buy lifestyle blocks unless they have other substantial investments in New Zealand.
