Schools, associations, church, clubs, culture and outdoor activities are listed below.
School
We have met a couple of new migrants who shifted some of their children from one school to another simply because they felt the specific child would do better in a larger, smaller or a school with a different disciplinary code.
If you are not normally so involved in your children’s schools, then we suggest that you do become involved, as you have now a wonderful opportunity to meet other people. Most of the times these friendships are enduring and it is simply good for you to have some friends although real friendships are going to take some time.
Associations
There are associations for almost every country and nationality in the world. This is one way to keep your traditions alive and to meet like-minded people.
Church
The Yellow Pages have a list of churches and religious organisations. You will find most denominations, charismatic and evangelical churches here in New Zealand.
Clubs
Clubs cater for most of your interests and sports. It is another good way of getting into the New Zealand swing of things.
Culture
The cities and towns organise several free of charge cultural events every year. It is best to find the website of the city or town you are interested in and check out the programme.
Outdoor activities
Most of the outdoor activities can be found under “fun things to do”.
