Unless you are coming from Australia it will be a long trip. Make sure you stay over and rest. A good night’s sleep will help you a lot when you arrive in New Zealand. Dress comfortably. If you planning a stop over in Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong or any similar destination at the equator, the heat will be very tiring if you are not used to high, humid temperatures. Stay over if you can, rest, drink lots of water and you will feel so much better when you arrive in New Zealand.
Journey's End
-
New Zealand is fiercely protective of its environment, and the borders are the first place you’ll notice this. There are specially trained dogs (Beagles), which will sniff out any plant or animal products. Be absolutely sure you don’t have any such products, fruit (including any you may have been given on the plane) plant materials etc. If you do want to bring in something that is made of natural products, declare it – the Ministry of Agriculture & Forestry staff are friendly and helpful, and will let you know if you can bring it in. Remember your footwear as well, especially if you’ve been on a farm or ranch. If you don’t declare, or don’t put banned products in the amnesty bins, which are clearly marked in the arrival areas, you will get caught, and the penalties are severe.
-
If you need to connect with a domestic flight just ask the air hostess to give you directions. Usually it is very easy to find your way on a New Zealand airport.
-
Make sure that you have local currency before you use public transport. All the international airports have foreign exchange facilities.
-
Set your watch on New Zealand time if you still have to do it.
