Every city or district council has a District Plan. This district plan will not only show the zoning, it will also show the location of e.g. protected trees, where planned road works is going to be and a number of other planning information.
The council is also responsible, on request and payment of a fee, to produce a LIM report (Land Information Memorandum report). This report will assist your solicitor when advising you on the title and issues mentioned above.
